The aim of this study is developing a scale to determine if geography courses are carried out in accordance with curriculum based on the students‘ views. The study developed a scale, “The Scale of Towards Geography Lesson Attitude and In-class Learning Process and Material Use” in order to understand the extent of geography course curriculum can be carried out. Geography curriculum has been significantly changed since 2005. The updated curriculum aims to have a structure that enable students to be more active and student evaluation is based on the process. The scale is developed based on the teaching style, use of instructional materials, and student attitude. The study population consists of the students studying at secondary school institutions in Düzce during academic year 2018-2019. A sample of 371 students has been randomly selected from various high schools in Düzce. The study group consisted of 104 male and 267 female students. The reliability of the scale is ensured as a result of implementing the scale with this group of participants. The initial version of the scale had 33 items but items 1, 2, 4, 9 ve 24 were excluded from the scale after reliability analyzes. After Varimax rotation, items that load values smaller than .30 were excluded from the study, and the scale reached to a 3 factorial structure. These three factors explains %52,95 of the variance. The KMO value of the scale was found as ,89. Reliability analysis showed that the Cronbach Alpha coefficient value as ,90. Thus, makes the scale highly reliable. Assessing the findings obtained with CFA, χ2 /sd ratio was found as 3.55 (χ2 /sd= 957,80/269). The ratio of 3< χ2 /sd < 4 is considered to be acceptable. The RMSEA value was found as ,085. The value of RMSEA≤ ,08 indicates a good fit. Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) was found as = ,08. Since SRMR value is ≤ .10, it is in the acceptable fit range. Comparative Fit Index (CFI) was calculated as = .95, Incremental Fit Index (IFI) was =94, Non-Normed Fit Index (NNFI) was = .94, Goodnes of Fit Index (GFI) was found as =,86. The values of higher than .90 are considered to have a good fit. As a result of the EFA and CFA analysis, ―Geography teaching style and student attitude scale‖ was developed. The scale consists of three factors; “Attitude” (9 items), “activities” (6 items) and “material” (10 items) with a total of 25 items.
